Doug Gingerich officially retired from the state of Florida in 2020, after serving as a prison chaplain for 27 years. He is currently the Pastor at Berean Christian Fellowship in Tallahassee, Florida. Doug came to Gospel Express Ministries South (GEMS) from Ohio in 1993, serving as a volunteer chaplain for 3 years prior to being hired by the Florida Department of Corrections. Prior to his retirement as a Chaplaincy Specialist, his main responsibility was to set up and manage the Faith-Based Dormitory programs in the Florida prisons. At the time of his retirement there were 34 Faith and Character programs operational in the Florida State Prisons. Doug continues to have a heart for prison ministry. He and his wife, Marilyn, live in Gadsden County, Florida, where he goes to Gadsden Re-Entry Center on Tuesdays to mentor inmates, and on Mondays he and his wife teach a SHAPE class to the inmates. Doug and Marilyn raised 4 children and have 9 grandchildren, who all reside in the North Florida area. Doug has been involved with GEMS as a volunteer chaplain, board member and advisor.
