Chaplain Billy Farran
Chaplain Farran has been involved in both the prison ministry and Christian clown ministry since 2003.
He is both an ordained Minister and an active deacon. He has served as pastor at Eastside Baptist church in Moultrie, Georgia and currently serving as an active deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
He has had the privilege of performing clown ministries in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Georgia and Florida, in addition to Kenya Africia (2), Tanzania and Guatemala (2). While in Guatemala he performed at the public schools, churches and also began a clown ministry with the pastors of several local churches, after having seen their very first live clown performance.
He has also been a part of Pricilla Mooseburger clown camp, Circus Sarasota Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Magicians,Int'l.
Prison ministry includes Cuba, Tanzania, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida. Locally, he has ministered at several facilities, but primarily at the MTC Gadsden CF, a ladies facility located near Quincy, Florida.
At Gadsden CF, he does chapel services, facilitates classes in 3 separate dorms, makes confinement visits, teaches Gospel Express Prison seminars which results in an individual certificate of achievement as well as ministering in the recreational and gym areas........During this time he has performed 14 weddings.
It is truly a blessing to be involved in the routine everyday lives of these ladies of which many may not ever attend any of the many available chapel services. So by being at the facility on a regular basis, you have the opportunity of talking , laughing, crying, praying, sharing meals together and most of all, just listening with your heart.. In so doing there are opportunities to reach at least some of them.
The Administration, Wardens, Staff, Officers, and inmate will always change, but the needs will always remain the same and that is to continue to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those behind the razor wall of the prisons to many who have never even heard for the very first time about a loving Savior who died on Calvary for each of them and is now risen from the grave because of His great and undying love.
