PURPOSE OF GOSPEL EXPRESS MINISTRIES

The purpose of Gospel Express Ministries (GEMS) is to answer the call of God, to communicate His love to offenders and staff, and to support the chaplains’ ministries in the North Florida prison system.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We recognize Jesus Christ as the only means of salvation. We accept him as our personal Savior and Lord, God as our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit as our guide. We accept the Bible as the authoritative Word of God and believe that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. We therefore base our faith, life, and eternal future on the Truth of God’s Word.

MISSIONARY CHAPLAINS

Missionary chaplains work alongside the state chaplains with the department of corrections and report regularly to the Gospel Express Ministries (GEMS) board of directors. Each applicant is required to fill out an application for the board of directors to review and approve prior to being assigned a position.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The board of directors consists of up to nine members who are elected for a five year term. Board members must be Christians, be active in a Bible believing church, have an interest in prison ministry, and be willing to volunteer their time and talents to help promote the ministry of GEMS.

Mission Statement

Gospel Express Ministries South (GEMS) is designed to assist FDOC Chaplains with Christian programming for incarcerated men and women in the Florida Prison system.

Vision Statement

We accomplish our mission by making the public aware of the ministry needs, by recruiting missionary chaplains and by promoting annual fundraisers. GEMS will assist the missionary chaplains by encouraging ministry accountability, praying for their moral and spiritual well-being, and contributing financially to their ministry.
