Chaplain Scott Heburn
Growing up I did whatever I wanted to, whenever I wanted to do it. Up to the age of 24 I had destroyed my life, my family, and everyone else around me. At 24 after drug programs, jails, restitution centers, and prisons I stood before the judge again. This time I had over 30 arrests, jumped bond for armed burglarly and a fugitive from justice in Georgia picked up by the TPD SWAT team for armed robbery. I cussed out the judge telling him “I’m not making an excuse for anything; I did the crime give me my time.” I was sentenced to prison for 9 years with 3 mandatory. That’s where I accepted Jesus and He gave me a new life. After 20 years of being free I still have a love and peace I never imagined was possible. I am married with two great teenage boys, I have a bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling, 10 acres of land with a nice home. I work with my wife doing remodeling to support our family and ministry. God has led me to do prison ministry and this year I will be doing around 130 speaking engagements in about 50 different prisons in 3 different states. He has also opened the door for me to go with a ministry to the Philipines to speak to over 10,000 men in prison there. I’m excited to see what God will do! My prayer is “Here I am, Lord send me.”
